How it Works and What to Know

Scheduling

Please read the following in regards to booking an appointment with me. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out and I’ll be happy to answer them!

  • You must be 18 years of age

  • There is a minimum hour booking time, or $175. If your piece will take less time than an hour, you may request additional small pieces to fill it, or consider adding it to a larger piece session.

  • Booking will be done quarterly. Books will open on the first of the month prior to the beginning of the next quarter. For example, I will open books on Dec 1st when it’s time to book 1st QTR 2023 (Jan-Mar)

  • Requests will be responded to over the course of the following few days, so do not be alarmed if you don’t immediately hear back after submitting.

  • Once I’ve sent a response to book, please respond within 48 hours to confirm. If I’ve not received a response, that date will be offered to someone else.

  • There is no queue or line, so current clients and ongoing tattoo projects will be prioritized.

  • Submitting a request does not guarantee an appointment. Please make sure your request aligns with my focus of style - botanical, nature, illustrative, etc.

  • If I am unable to schedule you that round, I invite you to try your request again for the next round. Requests will not be backlogged, and need to be resubmitted for each booking period. To submit a request, please visit the Book page.

** Please note: occasionally my emails get sent to your junk folder, so please make sure you’re also checking this inbox!

Deposits

All tattoo appointments require a nonrefundable ranging from $100-150, depending on the project.

This can be delivered either in person at the shop, or click here to send via Venmo. Upon appointment confirmation, the deposit will need to be delivered within one week. If it hasn’t been received within that timeframe, the appointment spot will be offered to someone else.

Once the tattoo is complete, your deposit amount will be credited toward the final session cost. If an appointment is missed without notice, the deposit is forfeit and a new one will need to be put down before rescheduling.

New updates for Q1 2023:

Hourly rate is now set at $175/hr

There is a one-hour minimum booking time

Deposits now range from $100-$150

Drawing

Drawings are typically done either the morning of or the day before the tattoo appointment. Drafts are done only for some large-scale work such as full back pieces, arm or leg sleeves, and are communicated at my discretion and only by request. That said, all of my drawings are done digitally on an iPad, which offers the use of layers and other tools that make it relatively simple to make minor changes on appointment day, should you wish. While rare, there may be instances where I completely missed the mark with your drawing and need to do it again, in which case we will need to reschedule.

When submitting a booking request, if you have reference photos of tattoo subjects, designs and styles you like - please send them! This site wants me to pay money to allow attachments in the submission form, which I think is dumb. So if you’d be so kind, email them directly to jess.skincraft@gmail.com. Include your name so I know who they belong to!

What/Who I Will NOT Tattoo

  • No one under the age of 18.

  • Hands, fingers, faces, and necks are generally a no-fly zone for me. I will make some exceptions, which are fully at my discretion.

  • Any racist or offensive subject matter

  • Any subject matter or styles that I feel I’m not best-suited for.

Tattoo Project RequestsAs mentioned on the Home page, I’ve decided it’s time to really narrow down my focus with my tattoos. As nature makes me happiest and I find I do my best work with floral, botanical, nature-inspired, and storybook/field journal-style illustrative design, I ask that requested projects align with those categories.I will be attempting to monitor requests as they come through and if I see something that doesn’t align, I will reach out to you so as to not waste your time, and try to recommend another artist if I can. I realize this makes me look full of myself for deciding to be so choosy about what projects I accept, but please realize this is best for me, and ultimately you, because you’ll always get a better tattoo from an artist who loves the subject matter.

Rates and Quotes

All tattoos are priced at a flat rate of $175/hr.

There is a minimum one-hour booking time.

If requested, I will always try to give a rough ballpark estimate of how long a tattoo might take. I do my best to stay within your budget as reported in the submission. However, there are many, many factors involved that may affect that quote. Everyone’s skin is different, and every tattoo is different.

With large-scale projects such as back pieces, arm sleeves, leg sleeves, etc., please do some research before booking. It is impossible to quote these kind of projects accurately. A full sleeve can take anywhere from 25-50 hours, depending on your skin, the tattoo design, and level of detail. Projects like these need many sessions, and can possibly take years to complete, so it’s best to budget your time and money wisely.

If you have a maximum allowance for your tattoo project, I need to know. I will do everything I can to draw accordingly and tattoo as efficiently as possible to stay within your budget - but this is NOT guaranteed due to factors outside of my control. The same design could take me an hour on one person, and two hours on another person, depending on their tolerance levels and skin type, so please bear this in mind when planning your budget to give you some cushion room. Touch ups are not charged extra as long as they are done within 6 months, however, depending again on skin type and placement, additional passes are sometimes needed for best results and these are not categorized as touch ups.

If you are interested in a quote, please email me directly at jess.skincraft@gmail.com.
